Happy New Year to Steel Producers!

Metal-Expo’2018 exposition in hall 75 revived early in the morning on November 13. Steel producers used to begin the new production year with the first steel melting before but now it begins with the opening of Metal-Expo, the main forum for all the steel industry professionals.

The exhibition grows every year. 560 companies from 32 world countries exhibit at Metal-Expo’2018 among them 313 companies from Russia, 80 from China, 40 from Germany, 30 from Italy etc. Despite the sanctions 120 companies from the EU (more than last year) exhibit at Metal-Expo’2018. The number of visitors on the first exhibition day (10 709) became record-breaking. 27k steel industry professionals visited the show in 2017 while no less than 30k are expected to visit the event in 2018 basing on the fact that on November 12 (one day prior to the show opening) its website was visited by 7k visitors (1,5 times more as compared to the corresponding period last year). On the average 50-60 industry professionals represent each exhibiting company this year. The leader in the number of delegates became MMK (125 professionals). More than 50 events are planned at Metal-Expo’2018 let alone many informal meetings outside VDNHa fairground.

The official opening ceremony of Metal-Expo’2018 began with a cheerful drumming of a drummers’ band to be followed by Mr A. Romanov’s welcome address to all the exhibitors and visitors.

Mr. V. Evtukhov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation read the welcome address of Mr. D. Medvedev, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. According to Mr. V. Evtukhov, the Russian steel industry being one of the most significant industries of the national economy successfully competes in the global market. "We can state not in a shy way that our steel producers hold large-scale modernizations using digital technologies. 45% of ferrous rolled products and 75% of non-ferrous rolled stock are exported from Russia", said V. Evtukhov.

Mr. V. Cherepov, Vice President, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs spoke about the significance of Metal-Expo to the national steel business as a whole. According to him, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has traditionally supported the exhibition. "This event is a platform where rules and trends are set up for the whole year ahead", said V. Cherepov.

Mr. P. Shilyaev, General Manager, MMK said they were proud to exhibit at this event from its very beginning for the exhibition was a perfect place to establish new contacts and find new business partners. "We exhibit at many events in Russia and abroad, however, Metal-Expo holds a special place on our list of events", said Mr. P. Shilyaev.

"The results of the meetings that we hold during the exhibition week are enough to keep us busy the whole year’, said Mr. V. Markin, Deputy Chairman of the Board, OMK.

Cutting the red ribbon to applauses signalized the opening of Metal-Expo’2018, the 24th International Industrial Exhibition and the New Business Year for all the steel industry professionals.
