Winners of Roofing Contest’2019 Visited SSAB Facilities in Finland

In July 2019 winners of The Roofing Contest’2019 organized by UNIKMA visited SSAB facilities in Hameenlinna, Finland specializing in GreenCoat® color coated steels to see the coating line and the laboratory. The annual roofing contest was held in March on UNIKMA Moscow facilities. The contest program focused on inclined roof-making solutions with any type of coating. As a traditional event sponsor, SSAB presented its GreenCoat Pural BT coated steel at the contest. Most GreenCoat® products feature a Bio-based Technology (BT) coating where a substantial portion of the traditional fossil oil is replaced by Swedish rapeseed oil. As opposed to conventional coating formulas, the bio-based solvent becomes a permanent part of the final coating, making for a healthier environment and reducing the release of harmful substances into the air. SSAB, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor, welcomes all steel industry professionals to their stand 1A15 at Metal-Expo’2019 (November 12-15, Hall 75, VDNHa, Moscow, Russia).

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
