Mechanical Repair Complex of MMK: 25 Years of Uninterrupted Operation

On January 28, LLC "Mechanical Repair Complex" (MRC) celebrated its 25th anniversary. MRC is one of the largest manufacturers of technological equipment for the metallurgical and mining industries in Russia. Throughout its history, the enterprise has ensured uninterrupted production processes at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).

MRC specializes in the production of new spare parts and replacement equipment for MMK's technological units, as well as the repair of mechanical equipment across all stages and production lines of the plant. Additionally, MRC supplies equipment and spare parts to other Russian ferrous metallurgy enterprises, being one of the leading manufacturers of technological foundry vessels in Russia and neighboring countries.

LLC "Mechanical Repair Complex" is a priority partner of MMK in the program for the development and promotion of high-strength and wear-resistant steels marketed under the MAGSTRONG brand. The enterprise has the production capacity to process this metal, including specialized cutting of high-strength sheet metal along any cutting trajectory using plasma cutting on CNC thermal cutting machines, manufacturing custom products from high-strength rolled metal using bending, stamping, welding, and machining technologies, as well as providing project support for the manufactured products.

With the support of the Industrial Development Fund, MRC is implementing two major investment projects. One of them is the construction of a foundry and forging products workshop, aimed at producing import-substituting machinery products for the markets of Russia and the CIS countries. The other project is a machinery products workshop, which will manufacture non-standard heavy machinery equipment, with a primary focus on metallurgical and mining processing industries, as well as lifting and transport equipment.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
