Steel Construction Strengthens Its Position
From June 3 to 5, 2025, the exhibition SteelStructures’2025 will take place, bringing together manufacturers of metal structures, products, and their consumers. The event will be held at the new exhibition complex Timiryazev Center in Moscow. The general partner of the metal construction forum will be EVRAZ STEEL BUILDING.
The production volume of metal structures in Russia reaches 4 million tons per year. By 2025, further implementation of infrastructure projects is expected, including high-speed road and rail routes, airports, the Northern Sea Route, the "North-South" Transport Corridor, and more. Alongside infrastructure and industrial construction, civil construction will drive demand for steel structures, including multi-story buildings (based on steel frames) and modular low-rise housing, as well as the construction of social, sports, and agricultural facilities. Experts predict that the capacity of the Russian metal structures market will grow by 20–30% over the next five years. The prospects for market development will be discussed in detail during the SteelStructures’2025 exhibition, which will unite manufacturers and consumers of steel structures, designers, engineers, and developers.
At the exhibition, a new line of products, solutions, and services for the construction industry will be presented by Severstal, EVRAZ STEEL BUILDING, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), Severstal-Metiz, Rechickij Metiznyj Zavod, Ashinskiy Metallurgical Works, Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, Tulskaya Metalworking Company, SE Konus, ETALON LLC, Steel Construction Group of Enterprises, Profile Group of Firms, Tochinvest Zink, Kazan Steel Profiles, Zinker, and ARS-PROM GROUP, as well as manufacturers of high-strength fasteners – Parallel and Bervel, Romanov Construction Bureau, Dedenevsky Plant of Metal Products, Sosnovoborsky ZMK, Novostal-M, and a number of other leading companies in the metal construction sector. A large number of visitors from Russian regions, as well as from China, Turkey, and other countries, are expected.
To date, all major restrictions in regulatory and technical documentation regarding the use of metal structures in civil, industrial, and infrastructure construction have been lifted. The focus of market participants in steel construction is on promoting rapid construction technologies using I-beams, tubular products, light-gauge steel structures, as well as combined solutions and modular construction based on prefabs. The technology of building housing using steel frames increases construction speed, reduces the need for labor on-site, and ensures environmental performance. The platform approach helps reduce the final construction cost by 30%. By minimizing logistics and ensuring high factory readiness of structures, construction work becomes feasible in the most remote regions of the country with short construction seasons, including seismic zones and Arctic territories, where other materials cannot meet the challenges.
Currently, the use of steel in construction in countries such as the USA, the UK, and China accounts for 60–65%. In Russia, the share of buildings constructed on a metal frame does not exceed 13%, with only 1% being multi-story residential buildings. This indicates significant potential, especially in the context of programs for the elimination of dilapidated housing, the development of Arctic and Far Eastern regions, and comprehensive territorial development projects.
As part of the SteelStructures’2025 exhibition, nationwide conferences will be held, including Steel Structures: Key Trends of 2025 and "Quality Fasteners – Reliability of Machines and Metal Structures", as well as a roundtable meeting for manufacturers of products made from galvanized and coated rolled metal. Conferences on e-commerce and marketplaces in the metals market, equipment, and technologies for processing coated steels, a roundtable on modern bridge construction, and the annual meeting of the Association for the Development of Steel Construction will also take place. Additionally, the results of the Power of Metal competition will be announced, recognizing the best solutions for the use of steel and aluminum in construction. Partners of these events include the Russian Ministry of Construction, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, leading industry research institutes, and associations such as the Steel Construction Development Association, the Russian Union of Metal and Steel Suppliers, TsNIISK named after V.A. Kucherenko, CNIIPSK Im. Melinikova, the Zinc Development Center, and the Prommetiz Association.
Coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders in stimulating the consumption of metal products in the construction industry ensures the effectiveness of the metal construction forum. Such congress and exhibition events help form a professional community and maintain open dialogue among market participants. In 2025, EVRAZ STEEL BUILDING will serve as the general partner of the SteelStructures’2025 exhibition. The company aims to create a space that meets the diverse needs of visitors. EVRAZ Steel Framework plans to organize the "ZMK – Designers – Paints" cluster and hold two thematic discussions. These will focus on reducing the cost of both production of structures through optimal technical solutions and the overall project through competent design and collaboration across the contractor chain.
