SteelStructures'2019: Interim Results

The second day of SteelStructures'2019 (May 15) was very busy. It began with Steel Structures: Market Structure and Prospects conference which brought together industry professionals from all over Russia. During the conference 11projects , the winners of Power of Metal contest were awarded.

A number of roundtables, conferences and seminars on the most pressing problems of the metal construction market including steel structures design and set up, technical norms and regulations in the galvanized and pre-painted rolled products market, fields of application of sandwich panels, metal tiles, and sidings were held that on day as well. The third day of SteelStructures'2019 will begin with a conference organized by Steel Construction Development Association and the already traditional conference Modern Types of Equipment and Solutions for Steel Structures Galvanizing organized by Zinc Development Center.

A number of master classes for steel structures designers and round tables for marketing professionals will be held on that day as well.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
