Construction industry and steel structures market report based on results of 2024

Steel Construction Development Association has prepared an analytical review titled "The Construction Industry and the Market for Steel Structures in the Russian Federation, EAEU Member States, and Uzbekistan" based on the results of 2024.
The report highlights trends in the construction industry, including the dynamics and geographical structure of the volumes of work in residential, commercial, administrative, infrastructure, and road construction.
Despite the unstable economic situation that characterized 2024, analysts point out positive aspects in the construction sector.
Compared to 2023, the volume of non-residential buildings commissioned increased by 7.6% (to 38.4 million square meters).
In addition, the commissioning of individual housing has risen to a record 62.3 million square meters over the year. This has helped maintain the total annual housing commissioning in the country at 107 million square meters, as predicted by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of Russia.
According to Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, the increase in individual housing construction is attributed to the popularity of private homes among Russians, favorable programs in the segment, and the development of transport and utility infrastructure.
“One of the advantages of steel construction is the reduction of labor costs, which is especially relevant in the current shortage of skilled workers.
Currently, a project for a multi-story residential building using a steel frame is undergoing a state expert examination. It may enter the register of standard project documentation and become a breakthrough in the residential construction. The use of steel technology will allow a 25% reduction in the number of specialists on the construction site and the redistribution of labor resources within the industry," said Alexander Danilov, General Director of Steel Construction Development Association (ARSS).
INFOLine tracks statistics on the production of basic types of construction metal products, including: steel construction metal structures (building and structure frames, bridge and overpass structures, road metal structures, power line supports, communication masts); sheet metal products (sandwich panels, profiled sheets, metal tiles); and other metal products for construction and related purposes (structures and products for pipelines, structures for the shipbuilding industry, sheet piling structures, grating flooring).
There is a boom in the construction of logistics centers, primarily in the Far East. Another advantage is the lighter logistics compared to other materials for remote regions such as the Far East or the Arctic. The use of a steel frame allows for a 2.5 times reduction in the volume of necessary construction materials, significantly lowering logistics costs.
SCDA will hold a series of thematic events during the exhibition of metal and steel structures, products, and their consumers, SteelStructures’2025 (June 3-5, Moscow, Timiryazev Center).
