COMETAL Launches New Structural Steel Erection Business
COMETAL has expanded its range of services and now offers structural steel erection. Customers can benefit from a full range of services, from the fabrication of steel components to the construction of completed facilities and the installation of engineering utilities.
In 2025, the company completed a pilot project of a relatively small scale. COMETAL is now involved in the construction of several facilities in Yakutia. At present, work is underway on six buildings. The new projects include not only the erection of structural steel but also the installation of engineering utilities. The company's key responsibilities on these projects include supervising the quality and execution of work performed by contractors, preparing project documentation, and coordinating with customers on all technical and organisational matters.
"As a rule, structural steel erection involves many complexities and unexpected situations that arise on a daily basis. We handle all of these ourselves," said Aleksey Makarichev, Construction Manager at COMETAL. "The customer receives a turnkey facility: we not only manufacture the steel structures, but also fully supervise their erection and the construction process."
As part of one of its projects in Yakutia, COMETAL is constructing oil storage warehouses requiring 130 tonnes of structural steel. The company will carry out the entire scope of work, from foundation construction to the installation of fire alarm systems, ventilation, water supply systems, doors and gates.
COMETAL became eligible to provide structural steel erection services after joining a self-regulatory organisation (SRO). Membership in the construction SRO and obtaining the second level of liability allow the company to enter into contracts worth up to RUB 500 million and perform construction work in compliance with Russian construction legislation.
