MMK-METIZ High-Strength Zinc-Aluminium Coated Wire in Demand by the Power Industry
Since the beginning of the year, MMK-METIZ has produced approximately 400 tonnes of zinc-aluminium coated wire. The product is coated with Galfan®, an alloy consisting of 95% zinc and 5% aluminium, which provides corrosion resistance more than twice as high as that of conventional zinc coatings.

This year, MMK-METIZ expanded its product range by introducing additional wire diameters. The company also plans to work jointly with specialists from MMK to develop a new steel grade with enhanced strength properties.
When used in the construction of power transmission lines in the Urals, Siberia and the Russian Far East, cables are subjected to extreme operating conditions, including strong winds, significant temperature fluctuations and high humidity. MMK-METIZ's high-strength zinc-aluminium coated wire has reduced cable sag by 10–20%—an important performance indicator for power utilities—and increased cable service life by more than 50%. The company's products are used as the core material for optical fibre, power and control cables.
Industry professionals will have the opportunity to visit MMK-METIZ's production facilities on 16 September as part of the 15th International Conference "WIRE – FASTENERS", which will take place in Magnitogorsk on 15–16 September.
