Russian Railways: Iron Ore Exports Up 18% in January–May 2025

A total of 6.6 million tonnes of iron ore were shipped for export via the Russian Railways (RZD) network over the first five months of 2025, according to the company’s official Telegram channel.

Exports in the eastern direction accounted for 3.6 million tonnes (+18.2%), in the southern direction — 1.8 million tonnes (+11.6%), and in the northwestern direction — nearly 1.3 million tonnes (+27%).

According to RZD data, the top three regions by export shipment volume were Belgorod Region (1.8 million tonnes), Zabaykalsky Krai (1.5 million tonnes), and Kursk Region (1.2 million tonnes).
