MMK uses industrial robots for work in extreme temperature zones

At MMK production, a robotic complex for the melting parameters measurement machine has been launched to automate the process of installing and replacing measuring blocks. The industrial robot performs this operation with high precision in just 2.5 minutes. In addition, it enables prompt receipt of important data on the temperature and oxidation level of steel.
The assistant is capable of operating in a zone with temperatures up to 1500 ℃. Robotization has completely eliminated the presence of personnel in the extreme-temperature zone during block replacement processes, notes MMK.
MMK is a participant in the exhibitions “Metallokonstruktsii” and “Metal-Expo”. This year, the SteelStructures'2026  will take place on May 26-28 at the Moscow Timiryazev Center, and Metal-Expo'2026 will be held on November 10-13 at the St. Petersburg Expoforum.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
