MMK Marketplace: Over half a million tonnes of steel products sold in five years

On 1 April 2021, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) launched the MMK-MARKET marketplace — a modern platform for purchasing and delivering products that has driven significant growth in online sales and shortened the supply chain from the producer to the end customer.

On 1 April 2021, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) launched the MMK-MARKET marketplace — a modern platform for purchasing and delivering products that has driven significant growth in online sales and shortened the supply chain from the producer to the end customer.

The platform was launched as part of the company's strategic initiative "Focus on the Customer" and enabled the automation of sales processes and improvement of customer service. The marketplace features products of both MMK and other enterprises of the Group. The electronic trading platform was originally oriented towards the end buyer in both the B2B and B2C segments. The separation of retail and wholesale sales, along with the availability of a B2C account on the MMK marketplace, became its key differentiator from other digital solutions available on the market.

Today, the digital sales channel is an important area of activity for MMK Trading House, which operates as the operator of MMK-MARKET. In 2025, the volume of steel products sold through the marketplace increased by 61% year-on-year, exceeding 240,000 tonnes. The number of orders grew by 31%, and the number of new customers increased by nearly one thousand. Over five years, total sales through the platform have exceeded 522,000 tonnes.

The development of e-commerce in the steel industry will be discussed on 25 May at the conference "E-Commerce in the Steel Market", to be held on 25 May 2026 at the Azimut Olympic Hotel (18/1 Olimpiysky Prospekt, Moscow). The conference will open the business programme of the SteelStructures'2026 exhibition.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
