The steel structures market Is seeing project consolidation and supplier concentration

A representative of the largest structural steel manufacturer, Severstal Steel Solutions Group, presented a market analysis. Developers and large industrial companies are becoming the primary customers — it is they who will sustain steel structures plants in the coming years.

Trends in steel construction using metal structures were presented on April 2 at the IX Annual Steel Construction Development Association Conference "Ecosystem of Steel Construction: Efficiency, Speed and Reliability". The conference was attended by representatives of construction companies and developers, designers, industry and financial institutions, as well as key manufacturers.

According to the theses presented by Severstal Steel Solutions Group, "systemic" clients are emerging as the leading customers — companies implementing large-scale projects and placing regular orders for metal structures.

In the context of growing industry consolidation, Severstal Steel Solutions Group is consistently developing partnership schemes with regional steel structures plants. This approach makes it possible to engage additional capacity for specific projects, optimally distribute volumes in accordance with manufacturers' competencies, and expand presence across various regions. Cooperation with partners enables the company to enhance supply stability and provide customers with the necessary balance of quality, timelines and cost.

Dmitry Manakov, Director of Severstal Steel Solutions Group, will speak about the development of the company's own and partner network of steel structures plants at the conference "Steel Structures: Key Trends 2026", to be held during the SteelStructures'2026 exhibition.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
