China’s Galvanized Rebar Market Takes Center Stage at International Corrosion Conference
The Zinc Development Center's international conference on "Modern Corrosion Protection Technologies Utilizing Zinc Powder" brought together participants to discuss industry advancements. Key topics included corrosion resistance, the efficiency of zinc-rich coatings, and advanced surface preparation techniques following chemical and abrasive treatments.
The conference included international case studies. Lan Tian, Director of WEDONE, discussed the use of galvanized rebar in China's major infrastructure projects. He highlighted that the main reason for using galvanized rebar is its essential long-term corrosion resistance in construction.
Lan Tian highlighted several major Chinese projects utilizing the technology. These include a 6-kilometer road and rail bridge, an underground tunnel, and a high-speed municipal metro line engineered for speeds up to 120 km/h. He also noted its use in a reservoir dam in Guangxi Province, which required over 2,000 tons of galvanized rebar, and a new facility ranking among the world's largest hydroelectric power plants.
The event's business program will continue tomorrow. Industry experts will present on steel structures and protective coatings, followed by a round-table discussion centered on manufacturers of galvanized and pre-painted rolled steel products.
Registration is open, and entry remains free.
