Metal-Expo’2018 to Kick Start

The Organizing Committee of Metal-Expo met on December 21 in Moscow to sum up the results of Metal-Expo’2017 and launch the 2018 campaign.

The statistics read that more than 530 exhibitors from 34 world countries exhibited in Metal-Expo’2017 on November 14-17 while 28.5k industry professionals from 60 world countries and 320 Russian cities visited the event.

According to A. Romanov, President of RUMSS and Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Metal-Expo, leading Russian and international steel producers and heavy-engineering companies being fully satisfied with their participation in Metal-Expo have already confirmed their participation in 2018.

Thus, in 2017 the majority of Metal-Expo exhibitors considerably expanded their expositions, increased the number of professional stand attendants and top-managers. An average number of stand attendants at leading steel producers’ expositions reached 80—90 professionals.

A hard-driving program of Metal-Expo'2017 included more than 50 events covering the most pressing problems of the steel industry.

Summing up the results of Metal-Expo’2017 the members of the Organizing Committee made good suggestions on improving the next Metal-Expo edition.

VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
